Visitors can apply for one month, single entry electronic tourist visa (Evisa) directly at the Embassy, or send application by post, or email to: to request for Evisa.

1. How to apply for Visa

If you are not on the List of Visa Exemption to Vietnam, please follow the guidance below for applying Vietnam's entry visas. (Vietnam E-visa pilot project is not applicable yet in Switzerland).

- You can lodge your application in person at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Viet Nam at Schlosslistrasse 26, 3008 Bern; or do it by post-mail/courier.

- In case of post/courier, your are kindly requested to send the application form together with your original passport, 01 passport size photo (not applicable with the online application form), the visa application fee (in form of bank payment) and a self-addressed stamped envelope by registered mail (If the applicant requests the visa be returned by post-mail) to the Consular Section of the Embassy.

-  Visa application can be submit as early as six months prior to the date of travel.

- The application form: Application form can be manually downloaded in Acrobat/MSWord version (PDF or DOC). Application form need to be duly complete and signed before submitting together with other requested documents.

- Visa application fee: Visa application fee need to pay in advance in form of wire transfer, bank transfer or credit transfer. In case of the bank payment, you are kindly advised to send us, together with your application, a proof of the payment. Payment of an incorrect amount or delay in payment may result in processing delays.

2. Processing time

- Five (05) to ten (10) business days are required to process visa applications with approval. Expedited processing requires one day to two business days after the Consular Section has received the application by post/courier (additional fee required. Vietnam immigration authority may decide to review an application in Vietnam. It may take longer than the above standard processing time for such applications to be processed.

- When applying for visa in person at our Consular Section, you can also obtain an Express Visa (immediately on the same day. If you apply for an express visa, you are kindly requested to send us your fulfilled application form in advance (at least 24 hour before coming) by email: An additional fee is required for each application.

4. Visa for Internship

You will need a professional visa to be able to do an internship in Vietnam. This visa is valid for a maximum period of six months and is issued by the Vietnam Embassy in Bern. It is applicable to people wishing to go to Vietnam to work or other economic reasons such as setting up a business, doing an internship, conducting a project or humanitarian actions.


It is the company wishing to appoint you that will apply for a professional visa on your behalf. You will need to send your personal information, including your name, your birth date, details about your stay in Vietnam as well as the length of the stay. The employer will also determine the number of entries to which you will be entitled during the internship period.

5. Visas for diplomatic and service/or official passport holders: Please directly contact the Consular Section of the Embassy.

6. Having the visa

For visa-holder, please check against the visa in your passport whether the followings are correct to your application: Your name in full; Validity of your visa (Date of entry/exit, single/multiple); Signature of visa issuer; Stamp of the Embassy. If any of the above information is incorrect or absent, please notify us immediately within five working days for free of charged visa change or correction. We reserves our right to add service charges if the above notification is over five working days limit or the error was resulted from your application.
